Over the past two decades, Denmark as a society has been thoroughly digitized. Even though recent international research shows that senior citizens and vulnerable groups are at risk of being digitally excluded no Danish investigations into the subject have existed until now. By means of qualitative interviews with 45 vulnerable senior citizens, this project focuses on the impacts of digital exclusion processes on the daily lives of these people and their sense of life. The project will also contain interviews conducted within seven Danish municipalities focusing on the initiatives and practices that are part of the care for and dealings with vulnerable senior citizens.
Morten Hjelholt (Associate Professor) and Jannick Schou (Assistant Professor) of the IT University of Copenhagen are the executors of this project and will provide the results in two reports targeted municipal executives, interbranch organisations and decision makers. There will be a book launch as well, a collection of vulnerable senior citizens’ stories, experiences and knowledge based on the qualitative research. This will provide the vulnerable senior citizens with a public voice and provide a framework for the concluding conference.
